WOMEN OF THE EARTH (2009- 2010)
These photographs created of my stepsister and I, evolved from a dream I had one night and slowly began to simmer and seep through my subconscious ever since. It is an ever present reminder about the inherent connection and synchronicity between women and nature. Through the use of blending and layering techniques, I artistically strive to display an image of a woman intuitively communing with her environment. Unlike many traditional displays of female nudes which exploit or exaggerate the body, my intent is portray the human figure as an integral portion of the greater creation. Being on both end of the lens has been an equally empowering and humbling experience. In retrospect, this portfolio was a healing and affirming project for my sister and I, and further strengthened and nurtured a 40 year old friendship.
